Description

Polmood Bridge, built around 1890, is a flat-arch, hump-backed girder bridge made of riveted scissor-braced steel with a timber boarded deck. The approaching flanks are each marked by two pairs of red sandstone ashlar corniced piers that have pyramidal caps resting on ball feet, topped with ball finials. Each pair of piers ends with a short stretch of wall that is saddleback-coped.
