Netherdale Mill, Dale Street, Galashiels

Netherdale Mill, dated 1873, is a four-storey, 19-bay rectangular-plan mill building featuring a projecting stair tower that rises above the eaves height on the front elevation. It is constructed from whin and sandstone rubble, accented with red sandstone dressings and rusticated quoins. The building is oriented roughly east-west on an open site and includes an eaves course. The stair tower has hood moulded windows, while circular windows are located in the upper stage. The roof is an M-roof with a concealed valley, and there is a steel fire escape at the rear.

On the front elevation, there are entrances at both the far left and far right, with the right entrance blocked up and a new opening created immediately to the left. The main entrance is located at the base of the stair tower. The building predominantly features 12-pane timber sash and case windows.

Inside, the interior remains relatively intact, showcasing a structure of cast iron columns and timber beams and floors, including floorboards. The upper floor has a boarded roof, while the lower floors are divided into four bays wide, and the upper floor is two bays wide with a cast iron main longitudinal beam.
