Description

Later 19th century with later additions and alterations. 2-storey, 4-bay building (grouped 2-2) in terrace. Stugged ashlar with polished ashlar dressings at 1st floor and painted at ground; whinstone rubble with droved ashlar dressings to rear with various additions to rear of No 11, some pebbledashed. Base course, cornice between ground and 1st floor; deep eaves course; stop-chamfered arrises.

SE (MARKET PLACE) ELEVATION: 2-bay to right advanced from line of 2-bay group to left and slightly taller. Windows to each bay at 1st floor of each 2-bay group (closer disposition in narrower 2-bay group to right). Deep-set glazed shop door to centre of 2-bay group to right flanked by windows. Rounded corner to advanced 2-bay group; 2-leaf boarded door flanked by window to left and round-arched pend-entrance to right.

NW ELEVATION: 2-storey and single storey additions projecting to rear of No 11.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows to 1st floor of No 11; modern glazing to 1st floor of No 12. 2-pane fixed windows at ground of each. Pitch and platform slate roof, each with skylight and ashlar coped skews. Piended canted dormer to centre of No 12; 2 to No 11. Ashlar coped mutual stacks.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1995.
