Description

Redpath is an early 19th century farmhouse that has undergone later additions and alterations. It is a symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay structure featuring a gabled porch at the front and a two-storey wing at the rear, creating an L-shaped plan. There is also a lean-to garage addition situated in the re-entrant angle. The front elevation is rendered, partly coursed, while the side elevations are harled, and the porch and rear elevation are finished with harl pointed rubble sandstone. The building includes some long and short droved rubble sandstone dressings and predominantly features projecting cills.

On the south (entrance) elevation, there is a projecting gabled porch at ground level with a single window in the front. A timber panelled door is located in the return to the right, and there is another single window centred on the first floor. The flanking bays on both floors also contain single windows.

The west (side) elevation shows the original block on the outer right with a single window at ground level, offset to the left of centre. To the left, there is a single-storey garage addition, and a single window is centred on the first floor of the two-storey wing, which is recessed above.

On the north (rear) elevation, the gabled wing on the outer left has a single window centred at ground level. The garage addition is located in the remaining bays to the right, with the original block recessed above, featuring a stair window offset to the left and a single window at the first floor offset to the right.

The east (side) elevation has the original block on the outer left with a single window at ground level in the left bay and single windows on both floors in the right bay. The two-storey wing on the outer right features single windows centred at both ground and first floors, with another single window at ground level in the left bay.

The windows predominantly have 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case style, and there is a small rooflight. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, although the garage has modern roofing material. The building features stone coped skews, replacement rainwater goods, and brick-built apex stacks with various circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1997. The site is enclosed by dry rubble boundary walls.
