Friars Glen, Friarsgate, Jedburgh

Friars Glen is an early 19th-century symmetrical two-storey villa with five bays, featuring a harled exterior and painted ashlar margins.

The entrance elevation has a shallow three-bay bow at the center, which includes a deep-set panelled door topped with a rectangular sunburst fanlight and cornice. The outer windows on the ground floor are extended down, while the first floor has regular fenestration.

On the north elevation, there is a broad bay to the left that features a canted ashlar window on the ground floor, which has chamfered arrises, a cornice, and a blocking course. Above this window is another window, along with a round-headed dormer. The narrow bay to the right is slightly recessed and has a small window on the ground floor and a regular-sized window above.

The south elevation consists of three bays, with the right bay being broader. It features glass doors with rectangular fanlights and painted ashlar surrounds, similar to the windows, in the right bays, while the left bay is blank on the ground floor. The first floor has windows.

The west elevation presents a four-bay irregular rear facade, with two closely grouped right-hand bays that are advanced and feature a timber and glass lean-to porch in the re-entrant angle. The windows are plate glass timber sash and case. The main block has a piended roof, with three subsidiary piends at right angles to the rear. The chimney stacks are made of coped red ashlar with moulded octagonal cans, and the roof is covered with grey slates.

The interior was not seen in 1992.
