Description

Sparrow Croft is an early 19th century house that has undergone later alterations and additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure known as Myrtle Cottage, which is connected to the east by a single-storey, three-bay house called Sparrow Croft. The exterior is harled with ashlar dressings.

On the northeast elevation, there is a window on the first floor just left of the centre of the low two-storey group to the west. There is a bipartite window at ground level in the left bay. A former window, which was located just right of centre at ground level, has been blinded and harled. The single-storey, three-bay group has windows flanking the centre.

The southeast elevation features a monopitch single-storey projection to the right with a door on the west return, along with a lean-to conservatory to the west that includes a window at ground level in the centre. There is a window on the first floor in each bay, and a window at ground level in the left bay. The south elevation of the single-storey, three-bay group is not fully visible, but it has a French window in the centre, flanked on the left by a window, and another window in the right bay.

The west elevation is gabled and has a window at ground level to the right. There is a round-arched window in the centre at the first floor, featuring moulded impost blocks and a heavy keystone.

The two-storey house has four-pane timber sash and case windows, while the single-storey house has a variety of modern windows. The slate roof of the two-storey buildings has a snowboard at the centre of the south elevation, while the single-storey house has modern tiles. There is a modern timber-clad platformed box dormer on the south side in the left bay. Each building has brick gablehead stacks, and the two-storey building features a scroll skewputt.

The interior was not seen in 1995.
