Description

1816 Classical, substantially remodelled in Edwardian

Baroque by J D Swanston and Syme of Kirkcaldy, 1904-06. 5

x 2 bays, 2 storey, centre 3 bays slightly advanced with

pedimented Ionic portico at 1st floor. Ground floor

rusticated basement originally with an open arcaded loggia,

filled in with windows in 1906 and a new pedimented

baroque doorpiece added at the centre. At the 1st floor

the Ionic columns at the portico were raised on pedestals

with a balustrade between. The first floor windows were given

block rusticated architraves and aprons, and pediments

at the end bays. Above the cornice the original balustrade

was removed. Piended and platformed, slated roof with

octagonal timber cupola containing the clock of 1841, this

was given a leaded bell-cast roof and Gibbs-surrounds to

the belfry openings in 1906.
