Description

22 Buccleuch Street is a house dating from around 1820, featuring two storeys and a half basement. It has three bays and forms the end of a terrace. The exterior is made of roughly squared, coursed whinstone, with the rear and side rendered, and includes droved, painted ashlar dressings with raised margins. The building has rusticated quoins and a regular arrangement of windows on the front, while the side and rear have irregular fenestration. The main elevation has four stone steps leading to a central recessed nine-panel timber door, which is topped by a rectangular three-light fanlight. There are modern extensions and a single canted dormer on the right side of the rear.

The house features some three-pane glazing in timber sash-and-case windows, with ashlar-coped skews and ridge stacks that are also ashlar-coped, topped with circular clay cans. Some cast-iron rainwater goods are present.

Inside, the ground floor includes some cornices, dado panelling, and timber-panelled window shutters.
