16 Weavers Gate (Former Stables, Ferguslie Mills), Paisley

20 Weavers Gate, formerly the stables of Ferguslie Mills, is a single-storey and loft stable range built in the late 19th century, featuring Baronial architectural details. The structure is constructed from snecked and stugged ashlar with polished dressings. The northern end and the central bays have crow-stepped gables, and the northern bay, which provides domestic accommodation, is set forward with splayed angles at the ground level that are corbelled to a square shape below the eaves. The gable heads have hoodmoulded and round-arched loft openings. The ground floor includes a variety of segmentally arched cart openings, lintelled doors, and windows. There is a stepped parapet over the ranges that connect the central and end bays, along with ridge and rear wallhead stacks that are shafted and coped, topped by a slate roof. A modern rear addition is considered to have no value. The property also features cast-iron panelled gatepiers that are corniced and topped with decorated ball finials, along with cast-iron gates.
