79 Maxwellton Road, Paisley

81 Maxwellton Road in Paisley is a terrace of two-storey houses with an attic, built around 1886. The exterior features stugged ashlar with polished dressings, including quoins at the angle of No 69. There are two distinct types of houses in this terrace.

The first type, Nos 69-75, consists of two symmetrically designed pairs. Each pair has paired doors that share a bracketed cornice, flanked by bipartite windows also with bracketed cornices. There is a cill band on the first floor, with outer bipartites and inner sash windows, all margined and connected by a lintel band. The eaves cornice is present, and the slate roof has a straight skew on No 69, along with corniced ashlar end and axial stacks. At the rear, there are paired wallhead dormers sharing a gable and a corbelled stack, as well as single-storey wings with piended slate roofs.

The second type, Nos 77-83, comprises four five-bay units featuring a central door flanked by sash windows and outer bipartites, all adorned with bracketed cornices. The first floor has an identical window pattern with margins, a cill, and a lintel band. The eaves cornice has scrolled shoulders leading to wallhead stacks. The slate roof includes corniced axial stacks, with a straight skew and end stack on No 83. The rear of these houses is treated similarly to Nos 69-75. Additionally, there are iron gates and piers leading to a vennel that provides access to the rear garden boundary wall, which is complemented by arrowhead railings.
