Description
The Piggery at Erskine House, likely built in 1856 and possibly designed by William Burn, is a Gothic-style structure featuring stugged courses with polished contrasting dressings. This single-storey building is octagonal in shape and has a lean-to roof surrounding a central octagonal lantern topped with a pointed roof and finial.
The entrance is gabled and located on the north side, featuring stepped coping and skewputts that lead to a central storage chamber. The other sides of the building have low pointed arches that open to brick cells and small yards, which include built-in metal feeding troughs. The outer wall is coursed, and it is complemented by ashlar gatepiers. The roof is slated and supported by stone brackets.
