Description

Mill House in South Bridgend, Crieff, is a late 18th-century, two-storey building with a basement that is raised at the rear. This former mill house features a high piended roof and is constructed from snecked rubble with stone margins and droved quoin strips.

The west (principal) elevation is symmetrical, with steps leading up to a deep-set, two-leaf boarded timber door that has a margined two-part fanlight and a consoled cornice. There are windows in the flanking bays and regular fenestration close to the eaves on the first floor.

On the east (rear) elevation, the basement has a central door and windows in the flanking bays. The floors above show regular fenestration, with an additional tiny window between the central and right bays at ground level.

The north elevation features a centre gable that projects from the altered piend, with windows to the right at the basement and ground floors.

The south elevation is blank, also featuring a centre gable as above, with a blocked door at the ground floor centre and another blocked door to the basement on the left.

Inside, there is a part-glazed screen door, decorative plasterwork cornicing, and a winding stair with decorative cast-iron balusters.

The property is enclosed by semicircular-coped rubble boundary walls, which include a decorative ironwork pedestrian gate.
