Description

St John's Roman Catholic Church on Melville Street in Perth was originally built in 1832. In 1848, a sanctuary, high altar, and new sacristy were added. The church was lengthened by 37 feet in 1856, and a tall traceried window was inserted. In 1892, the roof over the older portion was raised, and the apse was completed, with work done by Andrew Heiton. The church features a mid-pointed Gothic style, with a 5-bay nave and a side porch. It is constructed of rubble with a slated roof.
