Description

1841, extended to rear circa 1950. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan house. Squared and snecked red sandstone rubble with stugged ashlar margins.

SW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Steps up to heavily-pilastered, corniced and block-pedimented doorpiece, panelled timber door and small-pane margined fanlight; windows in flanking bays and regular fenestration at 1st floor.

SE AND NW ELEVATIONS: blank gabled elevations.

NE (ROSEBANK ROAD) ELEVATION: large stair window to centre with windows to outer bays at each floor and narrow, piend-roofed later bay projecting immediately to right of centre.

12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stack to SE, that to NW rebuilt in brick, some cans.

INTERIOR: some decorative plasterwork cornicing and winding staircase with decorative cast-iron balusters.

ANCILLARY BUILDING AND BOUNDARY WALLS: slated, rectangular-plan, former stable converted to garage. High coped rubble boundary walls with pedestrian gate to SE (New Road) elevation.
