Description
Mansefield is a 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan house built in 1841, with an extension added to the rear around 1950. The exterior is made of squared and snecked red sandstone rubble, featuring stugged ashlar margins.
The southwest elevation is symmetrical, with steps leading up to a heavily-pilastered doorpiece that has a cornice and a block pediment. It includes a panelled timber door and a small-pane margined fanlight, with windows in the flanking bays and regular fenestration on the first floor.
The southeast and northwest elevations are blank gabled walls. The northeast elevation, facing Rosebank Road, has a large stair window in the center, with additional windows in the outer bays on each floor. There is a narrow, piend-roofed later bay that projects immediately to the right of the center.
The windows are timber sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern, and the roof is covered with grey slates. The southeast chimney stack is made of coped ashlar, while the northwest stack has been rebuilt in brick and includes some cans.
Inside, there are decorative plasterwork cornices and a winding staircase with decorative cast-iron balusters.
There is also an ancillary building, a rectangular-plan former stable that has been converted into a garage, and high coped rubble boundary walls with a pedestrian gate on the southeast elevation facing New Road.
