Description

1 Graham's Place is a pair of semi-detached Classical houses built around 1840. They are two stories high with an attic, forming a four-bay block with two-storey wings at the rear, creating a T-plan layout. The exterior features ashlar stone with channelled rustication on the ground floor and coursed rubble at the rear. There is a base course, band course, eaves cornice, and blocking course. The upper storey windows have moulded, lugged architraves, and there are later dormers with pilasters and segmental pediments.

The central entrance has a paired Doric portico supported by two pairs of columns, with an entablature that includes cartouches at the center and sides. The entrance doors are four-panel timber with rectangular fanlights above, featuring a geometric glazing pattern.

The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case with horns, and the roof is covered with grey slates, featuring stepped skews and gablehead stacks.

Inside, the original room layout is largely preserved, especially in No 2. There is a curved staircase with decorative metal balusters and a timber handrail, along with fine decorative plasterwork in the main rooms and hall. Some Classical fire surrounds are present, and the interior doors are four-panel timber with moulded architraves and tall, corniced doorheads.

Boundary walls surround the property to the west, north, and south. The western boundary features low coped rubble garden walls topped with later metal railings, while taller coped rubble walls are present to the north and south.
