Description
3 Graham's Place is a pair of semi-detached Classical houses built around 1840. They are two stories high with an attic, forming a four-bay block with two-story wings at the rear, creating a T-plan layout. The houses are constructed of ashlar stone with channelled rustication on the ground floor and coursed rubble at the rear. Architectural features include a base course, band course, eaves cornice, and blocking course. The upper storey windows are adorned with moulded, lugged architraves, and there are later additions of pilastered and segmental-pedimented dormers.
The central entrance features a paired Doric portico supported by two pairs of columns, with an entablature that includes cartouches in the center and on the sides. The entrance doors are four-panel timber with rectangular fanlights above, showcasing a geometric glazing pattern.
The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case with horns for No 3, while No 4 has plate glass timber sash and case windows with horns. The roofs are covered with grey slates, featuring stepped skews and gablehead stacks.
Inside No 3, as of 2009, the original room layout remains largely intact. It includes a curved staircase with decorative metal balusters and a timber handrail, fine decorative plasterwork in the main rooms and hall, some Classical fire surrounds, and four-panel timber interior doors with moulded architraves and tall, corniced doorheads.
Boundary walls surround the property on the west, north, and south sides. The western boundary features low coped rubble garden walls, while taller coped rubble walls are present to the north and south.
