Description
Pairney Bridge is an 18th century single round arch bridge that spans the Pairney Burn near Pairney Farm. The bridge was disused in the mid-19th century and is now, as of 1989, in poor condition with some fallen voussoirs. It likely originated in the early 18th century and was widened in the later 18th century with additions to the northeast and southwest buttress-abutments to expand the carriageway and improve the angle of access. The bridge is constructed entirely of rubble, featuring squared rubble voussoirs. There are no parapets, and the carriageway is now overgrown.
