Description
Port Allen Farm is a large circular horsemill built in 1871 by John Honeyman. It features a cartshed and a granary, forming an L-plan range that remains intact. The structure is made of squared and snecked rubble with stugged ashlar margins, and it has segmental cart arches with voussoirs.
The horsemill has broad piers that support timber-lintel openings, some of which are part-blocked, beneath a slated conical roof. The steading is also slated and has ashlar-coped skews.
On the northwest elevation, there are three blocked cart arches below a square granary opening to the left. To the right, there are further door and window openings, which are also blocked, with the horsemill projecting beyond. There is a large square-headed opening that is part-blocked on the outer right, with a hayloft door above.
The northeast elevation displays a variety of elements, including four blocked cart arches and granary openings, indicating alterations to the elevation.
