Description
The Birnam Hotel is a large three-storey building with an attic, constructed from rubble. It features a square tower that rises four storeys, along with half-storey office wings and twin two-storey towers with attics. This structure is designed in the Murthly estate style and dates from around 1850, built by Sir W.D. Stewart. The property includes impressive gate-piers and large cast-iron gates, which are of significant size, along with a two-storey lodge that has been converted into an annexe; this was added around 1870 and served as the former drive to Murthly Castle. The hotel has undergone internal repairs.
