Description
Battleby House is a 2-storey building constructed of rubble with low-pitched roofs. Its overall design reflects the influence of the architect Alexander Thomson, featuring simple yet distinctive details. A large coat of arms belonging to the Graemes of Balgowan, which is very finely carved, was previously located in the pediment of Balgowan, dating from around 1730. The building was designed by architect David Smart from Perth and was completed between 1861 and 1863.
