Description
Ashlea and Maywood are a pair of symmetrical, two-storey villas built in 1912, attributed to architects Patrick Thoms and William Wilkie. They are designed in the Arts-and-Crafts style, featuring a rectangular plan, harled walls, ashlar dressings, and a slate roof. The villas have multi-pane sash and case windows and piended dormers, along with plain bargeboards and harled ridge and end stacks.
On the south elevation, there are paired symmetrical gables at the center, each with a bipartite window on both the ground and first floors. A large, dated rainwater hopper is positioned in the center. There are doors on the left and right, each with a swept canopy roof supported by colonettes. To the far left and right, there are flat-roofed canted windows with dormers above. Additionally, there is a glazed addition on the left return gable.
The interior has not been seen. The boundary wall is a stepped rubble wall topped with saddleback coping and features wrought-iron railings.
