Description
Glomach is a building located on Main Street in Longforgan, attributed to architects Patrick Thoms and William Wilkie, and constructed in the early 20th century. It features a later addition designed in a style that complements the original structure. The building is a two-storey, H-plan terrace of three houses in the Arts and Crafts style, designed to appear as a single unit. The front is made of random rubble with irregular stugged ashlar dressings and concrete lintels, while the sides and rear are harled. The roof is a jerkin-headed style covered with grey and purple slate.
The south elevation is symmetrical with five bays. It has a partially-glazed door at the center, which is sheltered by a bracketed half-piended canopy porch. Above the door is a small window, with additional windows on the ground floor to the left and right, and two dormer-headed windows on the first floor. The gables on the left and right are slightly advanced, each featuring a window on both floors.
The west elevation mirrors the south elevation, with a door and canopy located at the center left, a small window above, and additional windows to the left and right.
The east elevation includes a later two-storey gable that is advanced to the right, featuring an entrance porch at the re-entrant angle.
The north elevation has various doors and windows on the ground floor, with gables and dormer heads treated similarly to those on the south elevation.
The interior details were not seen. The boundary walls include a rubble wall to the south with two sets of small, coped gatepiers, while the north and west sides feature a brick wall with concrete coping, incorporating modern garages.
