Description

Blackcraig Bridge is a picturesque structure built in 1870 by architect Patrick Allan-Fraser. It features a wide segmental arch that supports a segmentally barrel vaulted transe, which includes a balustraded opening for viewing the river. The bridge has gates at both ends, flanked by turrets. Above the arch, there is a cape-house that contains the residence of the bridge-keeper. Additionally, a stair turret connects to the main bridge via a small stone gangway at the level of the cape house turret.
