Description
This is a mid-19th century woollen mill built into a sloping site near a bridge. It is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed of rubble with rough granite dressings. The south-east gable elevation has two windows, while the south-west flank elevation has three windows. The windows are square in proportion and glazed with vertical strips of five lights. The roof is steeply pitched and slated, with two attic windows visible on the south-east gable. An outshot, likely originally for a water wheel, lade, and sluice works, projects from the north-west gable. A timber outshot is present on the north-east side, and a later, harled structure is detached to the south-east. The mill forms a group with the nearby Stone Bridge. It is situated within a picturesque vernacular group, set in an area of great natural beauty. The listing acknowledges the group interest of the mill and applies to both the interior and exterior.
