Description

The Coach House at Hattonburn House is a former coach house from the later 19th century that has undergone significant alterations. It is a single-storey and attic L-plan building, now converted into a single dwelling. The exterior is made of dressed red sandstone rubble with cream sandstone dressings.

The south elevation features an irregular seven-bay layout with segmental-arched openings at the ground level. There is a central two-leaf doorway, with a rectangular window immediately to the left and a coach lamp to the right. A rectangular window is located in the centre left bay, while the remaining bays contain carriage arches. The first-floor windows break the eaves and are topped with piend-roofed dormer heads. The outer bays are single-storey with piended roofs.

The west elevation includes a single-storey wing with three windows, and there is a brick lean-to on the north side. The north elevation presents an irregular rear with a variety of small windows, while the east elevation is blank.

The original windows are timber sash and case, while the carriage arches have plate glass casements. The roofs are covered with grey slates and pantiles on the west wing, featuring several rooflights, ashlar coped skews, and a small stone apex stack on the east side.

The interior was completely refurbished in 1995.
