Description

The Balfour Burial-Aisle, located in the South Churchyard of Shapinsay, dates back to 1656. It is an oblong structure built of random rubble and features a gabled design. The building is currently roofless. The date and the initials 'M.G.B.' are visible on a wide arch on the south side and on the lintel above the entrance on the west side. Inside, there are mural tablets dedicated to the Balfour family.
