Sea Gate, Lamlash, Arran

Sea Gate in Lamlash, Arran, is a former pier office designed by Sir J J Burnet and dated 1902. This single-storey building has an irregular plan and has been converted for domestic use. The exterior features harled walls with a base course of rubble and bull-faced coursers, topped with a slate roof that has terracotta ridge tiles. The windows are single and fitted with modern frames that do not match the original character of the building. It has deep bracketed eaves, plain bargeboards, and a half-timbered gable on the west side.

On the west gable, there is a central gable with an outshot stack that has been removed above the eaves level. To the right, there is a door, and to the left, a window. A lean-to structure with a half-piended roof is located at the far right return.

The southeast elevation has a slightly lower bay that is advanced to the left, with two windows on the main elevation to the right.

The east gable features a recessed tripartite window with a jettied gable above it.

On the north elevation, there is a flat-roofed bay advanced to the left, which has later partial infilling. It includes a window in the center, with additional windows to the left and right, a window on the left return, and a modern door on the right return, along with a date panel and a window at the far right. The interior has not been seen.
