Description
Carlung House is a gabled "Elizabethan" mansion built in 1932, designed by architect J Austin Laird. It is constructed from Northumberland stone with sandstone dressings. The building features mullioned and transomed windows that have leaded casements framed in bronze, along with gable attics and a central dormer. A projecting two-storey porch adds to its symmetrical H plan, with a service wing extending at the side. The roof has slate ridges and Tudor-style stacks. At the rear, the garden front includes splayed bays and a balustraded terrace. Inside, the period features include Austrian oak panelling and timbered ceilings.
