Description
The Clapper Bridge at North Shawbost, Lewis, is a road bridge dating to the 19th or early 20th century. It is a clapper-type bridge constructed entirely of drystone rubble, although the low parapets have been repaired with modern concrete. The bridge consists of four short, low spans with flat lintel stones crossing a stream. It is listed as a good example of this now uncommon but early type of bridge construction.
