Description
Norwood, located at 11 Seafield Place in Cullen, is a house built in the style of William Robertson between 1830 and 1840, with significant later alterations and additions. It is a single-storey building with an attic over a raised basement and features three bays. The exterior is harled with tooled and polished ashlar margins and dressings. The central entrance is accessed by a shallow flight of steps and is sheltered by a portico supported by a pair of Roman Doric columns, with canted windows on either side.
The house has later canted dormers on each side and at the rear, with 2-pane glazing. It has a piended platform slate roof with a central pair of corniced stacks. There is a substantial two-storey addition at the rear and a further double-gabled single-storey wing at the northeast that faces Blantyre Street. The front of the house is enclosed by a low ashlar-coped harl pointed rubble wall, which has a central pedestrian entrance with a cast-iron gate featuring spearhead decoration. A high rubble wall also encloses the elevation facing Blantyre Street.
