Description

Probably W Kidner, Architect, remodelling and enlarging

earlier house. Dated 1882. Large Scots Baronial mansion

with American influence of asymmetrical form. 2 storeys

with castellated tower and stair turret rising a further

stage. Bull-faced rubble with tooled ashlar dressings;

battered base course; gabletted crowsteps. Large square

porch with flanking pillars and pinnacles; round-arched

entrance decorated with heavy cable moulding. Mullion and

transom sash windows of 2, 3 and 4 lights with plate glass

glazing. 1st floor windows with finialled gables above,

either straight, decorated, crowstepped or piended. 2 storey semi-circular, castellated bay on river front. Tall coped

stacks; slate roofs.

INTERIOR: half panelled hall; stair case with wooden turned

balusters; panelled and balustered radiator cases;

Rubble wall surrounds garden area; stone balustrade to

terrace over looking River Lossie.
