Description
134-136 Land Street in Keith is a 2-storey, 3-bay house built in 1860 by James Matthews, which serves as a combined bank and dwelling. The building features a regular front with a canted single bay at the northeast corner, where a former door has been converted into a window. It is constructed from tooled ashlar with polished ashlar dressings, displaying long and short stones at the angles, and has harled single and 2-storey return elevations facing Turner Street.
The central door is set beneath a round-headed doorpiece that has a keystone and cornice. The ground floor windows have similar decorative detailing, with an apron and a mask keystone on the canted angle window that was once a door. The first floor features square-headed windows with shouldered and lugged margins, and decorative scroll consoles are present in the centre bay. The building has an eaves course and cornice, with 4-pane glazing throughout. The roof is slate, and there are coped stacks at the ends.
