Description
Southbank is a house located at 36 Academy Street in Elgin, built around 1830 in the style of William Robertson. It is a tall, two-storey building with an attic over a raised basement and features three bays. The front is made of tooled ashlar, while the gables are constructed of rubble and the rear is harled, with ashlar margins. The central entrance has a corniced and pilastered doorpiece, which is accessed by a flight of steps with a palmette balustered cast-iron handrail. The windows mainly have 2-pane glazing, and there are two small piended dormers at the rear. The house has corniced and panelled end stacks and a concrete tiled roof.
