Description
128-132 High Street is a building dating from around 1840, featuring two storeys and seven bays with a Renaissance-style facade. The first and second storeys are constructed of ashlar stone, complemented by rusticated quoins and moulded architraves. The first-floor windows have panelled aprons and segmental-headed pediments, while the second-floor windows have raised margins. The building is topped with a cornice and a low parapet that includes two wallhead chimneys connected by a low arcaded balustrade, flanked by large console brackets. The roof is slate.
134-136 High Street, built in the late 19th century, is a symmetrical three-storey and attic structure with three bays, serving as both a shop and a dwelling. Its polished ashlar facade features a modern shop front on the ground floor. The first and second floors have bipartite windows, with giant pilasters flanking the outer bays, which are fluted and terminate in ball finialled end dies that connect to a wallhead balustrade. The building also has two piended dormers, one large and one small, with two-pane glazing. Corniced end stacks and a slate roof complete the design.
