Description

1 New Street in Findochty is a cottage built in 1843. Originally a single-storey, three-bay structure, it has a narrow two-bay extension at the south gable that was once used as a store. In the late 19th century, the cottage was raised to two storeys. The building features squared mixed rubble, tooled ashlar, and late 19th-century concrete dressings, all of which are painted in contrasting colors, including the masonry joints. The entrance is centrally located and has a panelled door with a cushioned cross rail. Gabled dormers are present in the outer bays, and the windows have 12-pane glazing. The cottage has coped end stacks and a slate roof.
