Description
58-62 High Street in Elgin is a mid-19th century, three-storey corner building. It features four bays along both High Street and Commerce Street, with a canted bay at the angle. The ground floor is finished in channelled ashlar, while the upper floors have an ashlar facade with polished ashlar dressings and rusticated quoins. There are keyblocked entrances at the angle, accessible from both Commerce Street and High Street. The ground floor windows have stilted segmental heads and are keyblocked, with alterations made to the shop window on High Street. The first-floor windows are round-headed, with pilasters and cornices, and there is a pediment at the angle. The second-floor windows are also round-headed, featuring lugged and blocked margins. The building has a frieze, cornice, and a blocking course, topped with a shallow piended slate roof.
