Description
119 High Street in Dalkeith is a single-storey, three-bay cottage built in the mid-19th century. The exterior is harled, featuring chamfered reveals and cills on the east elevation, with raised painted margins on the west elevation.
On the east elevation facing High Street, there is a boarded door with a two-pane letterbox fanlight at the center, flanked by windows in the outer bays. The west elevation also has three bays with regular window placement. A flat-roofed porch is situated between the left and center bays, which includes a boarded door on the north return, along with a modern window and a small ventilator window on the west side.
The south elevation is attached to the north side of a row of houses that runs east-west, specifically Nos 115 and 117 High Street, as well as 3-6 Brunton's Close. The north elevation features a timber shed with a half-pitched slate roof.
The cottage has sash and case windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof has coped skews, felted on the south side, and pebble-dashed stacks, with gableheads on the north and south sides, and a wallhead between the center and right bays on the west. The roof is covered with purple slates.
