Description
41 High Street in Dalkeith is a late 18th century, three-storey, five-bay tenement featuring modern shop fronts at the ground level. The building is harled with red sandstone ashlar dressings and raised margins. A lintel course runs at the eaves level.
On the east elevation facing High Street, there is a modern shop front with a door located to the right of the center. The fascia interrupts the cills of the first-floor windows. The first and second floors have regularly arranged fenestration, with taller windows on the first floor and blind windows in the center bay.
The north elevation is adjoined to No 43 High Street, while the south elevation is connected to a slightly recessed block of Nos 37 and 39 High Street.
The building features a 12-pane glazing pattern in its sash and case windows, two rooflights on the east pitch, a skewputt to the left on the east side, and a broad truncated brick stack on the south. The roof is covered with purple slates.
