Description

The Watch Tower, located in the New Burial Ground on Old Edinburgh Road in Dalkeith, dates back to 1827. It is a two-stage octagonal tower with crenellations, constructed from stugged squared and coursed red sandstone rubble. The tower features droved rybats and quoins, as well as ashlar raised cills and a crenellated battlement.

On the northeast side, there is a doorway with a lintel inscribed "1827" and a boarded door. Each elevation at the second stage has a slit in a recessed panel.
