The Dam House, 8 Fala Dam, Fala Dam

The Dam House is a late 18th century, one-and-a-half storey rectangular-plan house with a smaller gabled extension on the side, situated on a sloping site. The exterior features coursed rubble and tooled ashlar rybats, with long and short quoins.

On the north elevation, the house has a one-and-a-half storey design with regular fenestration to the left and a blind wall to the right. The ground floor has four bays, while the upper storey has three bays, which include two stone dormers on the left with squared surrounds and flat pediments, a catslide roof, and zinc flashing. There is a window above the far right ground floor window, and a skew gabled short stone stack with projecting neck copes.

The east elevation is adjacent to a lower house next door. The south elevation was not seen in 2000. The west elevation features a blind gable and a smaller skew gabled extension with an entrance door. There is also an adjoining rubble garden wall with a wrought-iron gate.

The house has replacement six-pane casement windows, with the top two lights hinged to open inward for most. There are six-pane sash and case windows on the front upper storey. The main building and extension have a pantiled roof, with a modern ventilation pipe on the front. The dormers have catslide roofs, and there are triple replacement cans with ventilation flues on the left stack, along with two replacement cans on a similar chimney on the right gable. The rainwater goods are made of replacement cast iron.

The interior was not seen in 2000.
