Description
Edgehead is an earlier 19th century farmhouse, designed as a two-storey, three-bay rectangular building with a single-storey piended porch. The exterior is harled and painted, featuring sandstone ashlar margins, skews, and slightly projecting sills.
On the southwest elevation, the central porch is enclosed and gabled, with stone margins and skews, topped with a broken stone finial at the apex. It has a panelled timber door with two glazed top lights and blind returns. The ground floor has flanking windows, with the left bay elongated nearly to floor level. The first floor features three regularly placed bays with plain stone skews.
The northwest elevation has a blind gabled end with a harled gablehead stack, and it adjoins a much later barn structure on the far right.
The northeast elevation has not been seen since 2002.
The southeast elevation also has a blind gabled end with a harled wallhead stack and an unusual guttering system. There is a later rubble wall with semi-circular copes abutting the ground floor on the left side. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, with a 6-pane elongated window on the ground floor left. The roof is gabled, covered with grey slate and zinc ridging, and features cast-iron rainwater goods with unusual horizontal guttering and central down-pipes on the side elevations.
Inside, the original features remain, but the building was derelict as of 2001.
