Public House, 186, 188 High Street, Dalkeith

This mid-19th century public house is a three-storey, three-bay tenement located at 186 and 188 High Street in Dalkeith. The west elevation features squared and snecked rubble, with the ground floor rendered and painted below a band course, and tailed ashlar margins and a base course.

On the west elevation facing High Street, there are four bays at ground level, with a door in the outer bays and two replacement windows in between. The first and second floors have regular fenestration, with the second floor lintels positioned at eaves level.

The east elevation has modern additions and replacement glazing. The north elevation is adjoined to Nos 190-194 High Street, while the south elevation features a harled gablehead above the adjoining lower property at No 184 High Street. The building has an 8-pane glazing pattern in replacement sash and case windows, grey slates on the roof, and a gablehead stack on the south side.
