Description

Late 18th century; late enlarged windows. 2 single storey pairs of 3-bay, rectangular-plan farm cottages with later additions and alterations. Tooled sandstone rubble with droved and stugged dressings. Long and short quoins.

NUMBERS 1-2:

NW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: near-symmetrical; gabled windows breaking eaves to 3rd bay from right and bays to outer left and right; window to 3rd bay from left; glazed modern door to penultimate bay to right (No. 1); timber door to penultimate bay to left (No. 2).

SW ELEVATION: asymmetrical; gabled; window off-centre to right; harled addition to outer right.

SE ELEVATION: near-symmetrical; 3 harled, piend-roofed additions advanced.

NE ELEVATION: asymmetrical; gabled; window off-centre to left; harled addition to outer left.

NUMBERS 3-4:

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: near-symmetrical; gabled windows breaking eaves to 3rd bay from right and bays to outer left and right; 4-pane window to 3rd bay from left; boarded timber doors to penultimate bay to right and left; 4-pane window flanking to left door of penultimate bay to right.

NE ELEVATION: gabled with bull's-eye window off-centre to right; 20th century harled additions to outer right.

NW ELEVATION: obscured by 20th century additions and alterations.

SW ELEVATION: asymmetrical; gabled; modern window off-centre to left; 20th century additions to outer left.

Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows, except uPVC to Numbers 2 and 3. Graded purple-grey slate roofs with galvanised steel ridges. Harled, coped gablehead, ridge and wallhead stacks with circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.
