Description
The Walled Garden at Dalhousie Castle was designed by John Hay around 1806 and constructed by Walter Nicol. It features a curved, irregular-plan layout surrounded by high, coped, coursed pink sandstone walls. Within the garden, there is a pink sandstone building that has timber sash and case windows, a blocking course, and a slate piended roof, which has been empty since 1998. On the west side, there is a coped brick and harled wall that runs at right angles to the main wall and incorporates a former gardener's house. To the left of this wall is the entrance to a courtyard that originally contained a melon ground and open sheds. The garden has seen later additions over time.
