Description
The Custom House Quay in Greenock is a building likely constructed around 1870. It features a two-storey rectangular plan that originally housed waiting and refreshment rooms, which have since been converted into offices. The northeast elevation facing the river showcases boldly corbelled oriel windows on the first floor, a central wide segmental archway below, and two round-arched doorways. The building is made of ashlar stone, with a bull-faced finish at the ground level. The north corner is chamfered and corbelled to a square shape above the ground. The northwest flank has segmental-arched bipartite windows across three bays, along with a modern porch. Decorative strings run between the floors, and there is a cornice along the top. The roof is a combination of piended and platform styles, covered with slate and lead, and features corniced stacks.
