Description
Mains of Coul is a two-storey farm building dated 1795, featuring a 12-bay square frontage constructed from rubble with tooled and polished ashlar dressings. The central bay has a keystoned segmental headed archway set within a pediment, which also includes a first-floor window, a blind oculus in the pediment, and an apex finial. To the east, there are five wide bays that house stables, along with a segmental headed carriage house in the outer bay. To the west, there are six closer spaced bays that contain two dwellings within five bays, with an outer bay also featuring a segmental headed carriage house similar to that on the east side. The first floor has regular fenestration with small windows that have 6-pane glazing. The ground floor on the west side includes two doorways and three 12-pane windows. The building has one timber porch, four symmetrical ridge stacks, and a piended slate roof.
