Description
Colbost Croft Museum is a traditional Skye crofthouse from the later 19th century. It is a single-storey building that is two bays wide. The right bay, or north side, serves as a single chamber, while the left side has an entrance to a former byre. There is an internal doorway connecting the chamber and the byre. The building has no windows and features a small metal ridge chimney. The roof is piended and thatched, made from either rush or marram, and is secured with netting weighted down by stones.
Inside, there is a half sawn planking partition separating the room from the byre, and a central hearth in the room with a crook above it. The floor is made of earth. The byre has a pebble floor and a small vent located at wallhead level.
The listing excludes the remains of the later 20th century Still House to the west.
