Description
East Gate Lodge and Entrance Gates at Balblair House are a pair of mirrored, single-storey gate lodges built in the earlier 19th century. They are constructed with harled walls and feature ashlar dressings. Each lodge has a two-bay south elevation, with the east lodge having blind windows facing the road. The front elevations are bowed and lead to a pair of cast-iron carriage gates. The entrance to the west lodge is located in the rear northeast re-entrant, which has a square porch with a shouldered lintel. The windows have 12-pane glazing, and there are tall, tooled ashlar coped stacks, both single and paired. The lodges have shallow piended slate roofs with projecting eaves supported by paired joists. The east lodge has been gutted and converted into a garage, with doors located in the rear northeast re-entrant.
