Description
Culrain Mains is a house dating from 1821, comprising a two-storey and attic, three-bay main block with a single-storey, three-bay gabled wing projecting from the west gable. The exterior is harled with contrasting painted margins. A central door is located in the main house, with a further door near the centre of the wing. A first-floor window is present in the east gable. The roof is slate-covered, with corniced end stacks and two late 19th-century canted dormers. The windows are fitted with 12-pane glazing. The house was constructed with contributions from Wright Nicholas Vass of Tain and mason John Rose of Cromarty. An advertisement for tenders appeared in the Inverness Courier on August 27, 1819.
