Description
The Glenmhor Hotel, located at 9-10 Ness Bank in Inverness, was built around 1865 and consists of two houses.
The left house features two storeys and an attic, with two bays. The ground floor has a pilastered and pedimented doorpiece, alongside a canted bay window that has a balustered parapet. On the first floor, there is a tripartite window. The building is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and rusticated quoins, topped with a slated roof that includes a pedimented dormer on the right and a canted dormer on the left.
The right house also dates from around 1865 and has two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The left bay is slightly advanced and gabled, while the right bay extends to a three-storey tower. The ground floor features a rectangular bay window with a balustered parapet, and there is a tripartite window on the first floor, along with a Venetian window in the attic. The centre has a pedimented doorpiece similar to that of the left house, and a pedimented dormer like the one at No 10 Ness Bank. The right side includes a canted bay window with a balustered parapet on the ground floor, a tripartite window on the first floor, and a round-arched tripartite window on the second floor, along with a bracketed cornice and parapet. This building is also made of rubble with ashlar dressings and rusticated quoins, and it has a slated roof.
